Paoli Dam has already pushed the frontiers of boldness in Bengali cinema by a mile. Earlier, Aishwarya Rai completes a decade at the Cannes, walked the red carpet on May 11, the opening day of the festival.
Aishwarya has always known what suits her best, in terms of make-up and she brought it to force on the international stage with dewy soft lips and clear eyes.
And now Bengali actress and Dusky beauty Paoli Dam also stole the show of 2011 Cannes Film Festival. She walked the red carpet as the lead actress of Sri Lankan filmmaker Vimukthi Jayasundara’s film, Chhatrak (Mushrooms). Paoli Dam has received the award for Shera Bangali New Face 2009 .
India Today reports that Paoli Dam was officially selected to be screened in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 64th Cannes fest.
“I wanted the Bong look because I was in Cannes as the heroine of a Bengali film,” Paoli told Mail Today. Paoli Dam was selected for a role in Italo Spinelli’s film ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ after Shahana Goswami and Nandana Sen backed out of the project citing excess of nudity involved.
